NorCal Labour Day Weekend
My lovely 3 day holiday weekend was spent visiting my two favorite people in the world in NorCal!
Berkeley– Such a nice, quite, college town. It reminds me of downtown San Luis Obispo, but much more quaint, low key, and more of a hippy, stoner, vibe…not really similar but you know the small town feel. Friday I was able to work remote so I walked over to a coffee shop, Sacs Coffee, near my sister’s house & fell in love. This place was awesome! So many students up bright and early to study (i was shocked). I felt right at home back in the 70’s, with the Beatles songs and other old rock music that played. Their food & coffee was excellent also…..Then I trucked over to Maxwell Field where I got to see my sister play Field Hockey….my first game this season. You can imagine what I did; shoot photos during the entire game & cheer for my sister! Yeah, she’s a stud….For more Cal Field Hockey photos visit my photography website.
Saturday I got up bright and early with my sister & her other house mates who had practice early early. I walked with my sister to her locker room and she showed me this great trail called The Fire Run on Berkeley campus. I undertook the challenge and took off on it. It was sooooo scenic. I actually felt like I was back in Lake Arrowhead, mountains somewhere, or some remote area in the wilderness. The trees smelled so fresh and that early (like 8am?) you could see the fog still rolling in and the musty fresh light of dawn. The trail went all up into forest and had some very nice views. It was highly enjoyable. If you’re ever in the area, do check it out!
Next Adventure —>SF City! My sister dropped me off at the BART and then it was up to me to navigate. I use to get really grossed out taking public transportation, especially the Bart, however I”m getting more use to it. It’s so convenient & beats having to deal with traffic & parking & fees! It’s actually kinda fun. Plenty of people watching to keep me entertained, paired with my ipod & some tunes, it’s a way to get from here to there. Although, I definitely witnessed some weird actions and saw some funny people….Without going into detail my nice walk along the San Francisco city streets, I’ll just say I made my way up to the Marina District where I met up with Ms. Stephanie & some other friends to catch up…..We decided to go to the Exploratorium!!! We had limited time, but it was a fun, stupid touristy thing to do. Yeah, I’m a dork, I enjoyed playing on the structure, climbing the play ground, looking through light fixtures, studying the science, and looking at the wacky experiments. Oh and there is also a fun shadow box you can play around in….San Francisco. I love the city. The more I go the more I think I should spend more time and live there ( for a few years), just for a new adventure….Only time will tell if that will ever happen. Until then, I will enjoy my weekend trips, getting use to the public transportation & wide genre of people I see & continue to do more exploring in SF.
