Costa Rica~ Toucans, Leopards, Butterflies… OOOooohhh My! Day 3

Posted on September 28, 2010

So besides learning an immense of history about Costa Rica & the culture, here is what I’ve done today:

  • Woke up to a rain storm in the middle of the night
  • Early Morning Yoga
  • Breaky with fresh Pineapple
  • Depart for a rescue zoo where we saw-
  • Toucans! Got to put one on my arm and feed it even!
  • Costa Rican plants & flowers (i’m obsessed)
  • lots & lots of hummingbirds ( & a cool purple one)
  • Got to pet a panther, ottoman cat,
  • Got up close & personal & had a photo shoot with leopards
  • Giant waterfalls
  • Tasted some yummy Costa Rican espresso beans covered in chocolate
  • Took a nap with a nice rain storm & fog in out my window
  • Had one of the best Yoga classes I’ve ever taken
  • Had yet another delicious dinner with guacamole/salsa & fish (my favorite) & organic Pinot Noir!
  • Blog time, start my next book, bedtime.

Again, the more I’m here the more impressed I am. The facts i learned about Costa Rica as a country today amazed me. I had no idea it was such a prominent country! As we drove to the rescue zoo our guide told us about the coffee fields, which were everywhere. Did you know only in Costa Rica do they hand pick the beans?? Other places, (like Columbia) use machines. Also, Costa Rica is similar to how The US is with Mexico. They outsource and bring in people from Nicaragua to do the dirty work. Haha. Also Costa Ricans are very very educated. Almost all of them go to school and are motivated to have an educational future. (unlike most other Latin American countries). The animals I saw today were also very neat & educational. Yeah, I’m a dork, but I felt like I was on a school field trip 🙂 A bit touristy, but not bad. I enjoyed it. There would be no other way to see all the animals and learn everything I did! Tomorrow —> Zip lining through the rain forest! Yikes!!

I took about 250 photos at this Zoo/Hike/Waterfall place….& had a shoot off off the Leopards & took way too many of plants & caught a Hummingbird Feeding (you have no idea how hard that is)….Soooo enjoy the few I loaded up & check out my Photography website for more (better ones).

Hasta Luego!

Inspiration

“Through travel, adventure and art, we learn to create, to wander, and to see the world—and ourselves—through new eyes, washed in unfamiliar colors. As we deepen our self-knowing through exploring cultures and lifestyles it develops new perspectives. The lens through which we experience reality begins to shift, again and again. Seeing the beauty of the world teaches of the interconnected universe we all live in. Each of us longing for the same freedoms: happiness, love, and a vision of paradise we can finally call home.”
