"To Travel is to Live"

Costa Rica~ Sunday Funday. Day 2

Posted on September 27, 2010

Sunday. I tried to sleep in & kinda did, until 730am…It rained all night (which I loved) but I had troubles falling a sleep, encompassed with some very odd dreams when I finally did. Today has been so relaxing & literally one of the most incredible & enjoyable days of my life. I cannot explain in terms others may understand. What I can tell you is I awoke to some fresh pineapple for breaky, sat in a hammock & breathed the fresh air while reading my favorite inspirational book of all time. Next, was a long Yoga class & then I attempted to go on a run through the Coffee plantations on our resort. By attempted I mean, my run turned into more like a jog due to the rock, mud, dirt ground I had to run on. Furthermore, withing 15 minutes it began to sprinkle, which then turned into rain. Yup, think my ipod got wrecked. However, my run was so different from my typical boardwalk, sunset run. (though I do prefer pavement). Highly enjoyable. Think of when Forrest & Jenny were running in the corn fields in Forrest Gump. It was something like that. Nothing to think about, just leafy green stalks all over, with mass fog.. I ran & had no idea where I was going.

I made it back as soon as I could once the rain began to fall. And i thought, hell i’m already wet, so I grabbed my bathing suit & jumped into their pool. Let me tell you, it’s not warm pool weather here & i’m sure I’m probably one of the only people who has attempted to swim in it in the last month. The front desk lady though I was crazy. But I carried on, my love of water attracted me. Cold at first, but breath taking all together. I felt like I was in a movie, watching the rain drops pound against the pools surface, making immaculate drops in the blue pool water. I wish I could have documented it properly via photo. Next I rushed to the shower, changed, had another scrumptious meal & jetted off to my massage. 🙂

My Sunday ended with another great yoga class, some reading, and an incredible dinner (probably my favorite so far) including tortilla soup, some peach salad full of yumminess, grilled zucchini & veggies, cous/cous, and some special “pie”ish dessert. I ate so much & went back for multiple rounds. Living alone it’s hard to cook and buy food for just me. I’ve forgotten how good it feels to have some real food, now just the random bits of food I make for myself. I miss cooking for others, and eating with others, and engaging over a home cooked meal of excellence. Guess I should find a guy to cook for. Haha.

I told myself I was not going to touch my phone or email or any social media site during this trip. Fail. I’ve been around so much and felt so many different things I need to share it. Whether or now anyone reads it, I dont care. This is my personal re account of where I’ve been & my “Me” Costa Rica trip….payed for, designed, & planned, just for Kali. And so, my Sunday night ended with a very full tummy, a blog post, some mediation, & now I’ll finish the book & be off to bed. Tomorrow- Morning Yoga, Breaky, & a trip to some giant waterfalls & park. More spiritual awakening awaits!

Inspiration

“Through travel, adventure and art, we learn to create, to wander, and to see the world—and ourselves—through new eyes, washed in unfamiliar colors. As we deepen our self-knowing through exploring cultures and lifestyles it develops new perspectives. The lens through which we experience reality begins to shift, again and again. Seeing the beauty of the world teaches of the interconnected universe we all live in. Each of us longing for the same freedoms: happiness, love, and a vision of paradise we can finally call home.”
